Dear valued Members and Colleagues,
It is my privilege and honor to welcome you to the official website of the Nepal Association for the Study of Pain (NASP), a country chapter of International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). NASP was established in the year 2073 BS (2017 AD) driven by a commitment to address. The critical issue of pain management in Nepal.
As President, I am proud to lead an organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by pain through a strong commitment to pain education, awareness , and the expansion of pain management services.
Pain, especially when persistent or undertreated, remains one of the most significant health challenges of our time. Yet, despite its prevalence, pain is still widely misunderstood, stigmatized, and under-managed. Our Society exists to change that narrative by empowering professionals, informing the public, and strengthening the systems that support pain care.
Education n is at the heart of our mission. We are committed to providing high-quality, evidencebased training for healthcare providers involved in the field of pain management. By fostering
clinical expertise and advancing pain science, we aim to equip professionals with the knowledge
and tools needed to deliver compassionate, effective, and multidisciplinary care.
Raising awareness about pain and its impact on individuals, families, and society is equally vital.
Through public campaigns, partnerships, and advocacy efforts, we strive to highlight the reality of
living with pain and the importance of timely and appropriate treatment.
At the same time, we recognize that access to specialized pain services remains limited in many areas. One of our core goals is to expand pain services, particularly in underserved regions, by supporting new models of care, advocating for health policy improvements, and building capacity within our healthcare systems.
This website serves as a hub for our members and the broader community, a place to share knowledge, discover resources, and collaborate on solutions. Whether you are a healthcare professional, researcher, policymaker, or person living with pain, we invite you to join us in
advancing this important work.
Together, we can create a future where pain is no longer a silent burden, but a well-understood condition met with skilled care and compassion.
Warm regards,
Dr Binita Acharya
